Oct 17, True Article Indication

- aged 10 min, 5C, no wind, damp conditions -
This is the end of a track which True has indicated
several 2"x2" leather, rubber and plastic articles on
asphalt. Then on grass he tracks over the last 2"x8"
leather article. I hold the line to prevent True tracking
my exit. He walks past the article a 2nd time, picks
up the scent and indicates. True is 10 years old and
has considerably more tracking experience than me.
His indication style is perfect every time. True has
missed articles on grass and asphalt several times.
What can I do to help True find the last article?

- Oct 16, HST "L" Track: Taro

- aged 5 min, 5C, no wind, damp conditions -
Based on several comments from viewers of the
previous posts, my strategy is to work short "L" tracks
with multiple articles and minimal aging. The goal is
to get the dog closer to the track line, build accuracy
and confidence. On future tracks I will progressively
age the "L" tracks in 5 minute increments. On windy
days I will use straight tracks and age 5-10 minutes.

- Oct 4th Taro HITT tracking work.

-20 min old track, moderate winds, damp conditions-
I used treats in the scent pad.
On the first leg Taro follows the painted parking line,
looks and then moves to the waterline.

- Oct 4th True's 3rd HITT track.

-1/2 hour track, moderate wind, damp conditions-
I am a new handler for True and this was his 3rd HITT
track with treats. The turn on the grass was right on
the track. I like the wagging tail!
