  1. Hi I love this blog! I hope my schedule allows me to visit often.
My aussie has started to scratch the track with her paws now. Particularly when a sidewalk is edged by a flower bed. Most times it is the mulch that either I walked over or the dirt that is 6 inches or so to the left or the right of the track. She attempts to retrieve the dirt it seems to me. When I remind her to track she springs forward down the track. Perhaps the mulch is made of something else she perceives to be an article when I step on it. My older dog use to scratch the pavement for credit for missing articles on pavement. . It is all fun that is for sure!

  2. In the track above , the dogs pattern seems to be to check the direction to the left first when he runs out of scent. Also with the short legs the dog seemed pretty honest about sticking to the track even when he was within 30 feet of an article. Minimal casting for the article search that alot of dogs do when they closing in on the article. The last turn the handler is turned predictably in the direction of the track. Not that this dog noticed it at this time but definitely something the dog could pick up in the future. With the parking lot fenced in I suppose the scent could be rolling tidal wave style int o the lot. Nice working dog
